But I come bearing good news!

It's been a while, I know. :( The last few months have been pretty whirlwind for me, so I just sort of... fell to the wayside.

But this past week was pretty epic, if I do say so myself. Jimmie graduated from Basic training and headed out to Arizona for his AIT. So incredibly proud of him, and I can't wait for us to start the next phase of our lives together.

And, for those of you who didn't see it on Facebook, we got engaged! :D He proposed while I was visiting him in South Carolina, where he was stationed for Basic.

While it was an exhausting week, it was also amazing. While his training in AIT is classified, at least I'll be able to talk to him on the phone and such. In Basic all we could was write letters, which seems romantic, but is kind of a pain in the ass when there is such an incredible delay. :/

So, with some help from the always wonderful rroselavy, I finally submitted my gradute school application to the University of Indianapolis.

It's a huge relief to finally have that done, except now I get to spend the next couple of months chewing my nails while they consider if I'm a worthy candidate. My nails are never going to survive. X_X

I know it sounds a little selfish, but please send me some good luck vibes!

Maybe one of these days I'll actually update for real.

I've got to get better at posting. Seriously. Life has just been crazy, and not necessarily in the fun way. :(

I shall sum up:

-New job is both really awesome and sucky. We had to fire one of our service techs for being a whiny no-show, and the new guy we got is a fucking moron. He's older than the rest of us (there are only four of us total that work in our store) and he thinks that means that he knows what to do. He talks to me like I'm a small child and he tries to correct me. Sir, I've been there for almost four months. You've been there for a week. SHUT THE FUCK UP. >:( On top of that, my manager had a miscarriage this past weekend, so I've been pulling double duty with the new guy because the OTHER guy that works with us had to fly to DC to visit his extremely ill grandmother. *SIGH*

-Two of my RL best friends have been going through a lot, so I've been laying off fandom stuff to help them through their stuff.

-Two weeks ago or so, my beloved cat Luna of 12 years passed away. It was really sudden and I was extremely distraught. She got sick and within a couple of days, she passed in the vet's office while I was making the decision to put her down. I haven't cried like that in a long, long time. I still find myself looking around the house trying to find her. What gets me is that our other cat, Mouse, does the same thing. That really breaks my heart. However, I buried her in our backyard and I go outside to visit her on occasion. I'm not ready to get another cat just yet, so now it's just Mouse.

-My roommate bailed on me and managed to fuck up a lot of shit when she did. I was really angry about it, since I did quite a bit for her and got it thrown back in my face. However, I have a new roommate, a Chinese exchange student, and she's awesome. She's an absolute sweetheart and it's been an interesting experience learning from one another. She has been spoiling Jimmie and I immensely with all of her cooking. :) And she complimented me on my use of chopsticks! :D The only thing I could do without is her annoying small dog, but even it's growing on me.

-I nearly died on the interstate a while back. My tire blew out and it sent me spinning into traffic going by me at 70-80 mph. I managed to gain control of the car and fishtail myself onto the shoulder, where I proceeded to thank everything that would listen that I didn't get hit or hit anyone else. Then I sat and shook and cried for a while before I made a desperate call to my mommy to save me. XD That was one of the single scariest things I've ever encountered.

-Have recently gotten sucked into watching Bones, which is probably my new favorite show. I love it, even if it grosses me out sometimes. XD

So, other than that, life has just been life. I miss fandom, and the other day I really thought about how much I missed talking to everyone on here. I keep saying that I'm going to be more active, but... things just keep getting in the way. I just hope nobody's forgotten about me. :P

So, gonna head to bed now. Gotta get up early for training and am dog tired for working nearly thirty hours in three days. x_x

♥ I'm glad all my friends in Virginia and DC are safe after the earthquake, and hoping that Irene doesn't slam the east coasters too hard. :( Stupid hurricanes. I'll be keeping you all who are in her path in my thoughts and prayers. *squishes you all, and the rest of her flist*

So, I ended up failing pretty epically hard with the whole posting thing, but that's okay. Winter always kinds of messes with me, so I've been mostly lurking around.

Work has been stressful, which is to be expected considering I work retail and it was Christmas. It just seemed like people were way worse this year than previous. I don't know.

Thanks to everyone who sent me cards and little gifts *looks to ditch_gospel and sharpeslass* and all the wonderful messages I got. :) Christmas was very low-key this year for me; Jimmie and I went to my aunt's house with all my family (except my dad, who was in Arizona because my parents separated for the time being) and it was nice. We opened presents at midnight that morning with two of my best friends, which was awesome.

For Christmas I got the two Hetalia DVDs, Loveless 3 DVD, lots of money, a new purse, an awesome Beatles journal, a Beatles CD, and a couple of pairs of pajama pants. Oh, and monkey slippers and a bumper sticker, and a new phone case.

New Years was also pretty low-key for me. I went out for dinner and drinks with two of my girlfriends, and rang in the new year at home with them and Jimmie. (I got a New Year's kiss, which made me happy. :))

Thoroughly enjoyed all the yuletide_smut fics this year! I can't wait to see who wrote what. :) I also decided (probably against my better judgment, but we'll see) that I will be participating in valentine_smut. It's part of my goals for this year.

Which are:

1. Write more
2. Post more
3. Get a better, more enjoyable job
4. Get into graduate school
5. Take more pictures
6. Lose a bit of weight
7. Be happier and enjoy my life more.

Not too much to ask, I suppose? I figure making goals is a more reasonable concept than making resolutions, since I never stick to my resolutions. :/

As far as writing goes, the only thing I've been writing lately is Kirk/Bones stuff. XD I have a few comment fics from the flash challenge over on jim_and_bones, which I may or may not repost here. Who knows?

Anyway, just thought I would catch up with everyone. I hope to be around more and be less lurky, but we'll see how that goes.

So... I hear everybody moved over here while I was away at Dragon*Con. o_O I posted an entry about it on LJ, but I'm still not really sure I understand what's going on. (This could also be from the 200+ entries that I missed over the course of my weekend, but that's another story. ;) )

If somebody could clarify, that would be awesome.

At any rate, I don't want to lose any contact with all of the people that I know and love from over there, so I'll probably be doing the crossposting thing from now on. Most likely, when I find out why I should be as righteously outraged as everyone else is, I'll probably make the switch as well. I don't want to lose touch with anybody. ♥ I love you guys too much.

So... eventually, once I catch up with everything and get re-situated, I will be posting about the epic epicness that was my Dragon*Con weekend. Put it this way, combined with the people I went with, we have over 700 pictures. :D It was AMAZING.

Just for a happier note, you know?
