Epic post is epic
Apr. 28th, 2011 10:57 pmSo, I reemerge once again to bring you pix! :D I had the awesome pleasure of hosting the ever-fabulous Xypne of
soliandxypne for a whole week! :D We had tons of fun and I can't wait to have her back again!
So, I figured I would post the epic pix from our adventures together, since I didn't want her to get bored. Warning: THIS POST IS EXTREMELY PIC HEAVY.
But I think you'll enjoy. :)
Thursday night Jimmie and I picked her up from the airport and we came back home, chilled out, and then promptly crashed since it was almost three in the morning. However, before that, she gave me a present!
( And what did she give me? )
On Friday, we got up and headed out to Abita Springs to visit the Insta-Gator Alligator Ranch. Here, they harvest alligator eggs in the marshes and swamps (since the population was dwindling) and they raise them. They release 12% of all the hatchlings back into the wild, the rest are used for leather products and meat (this reduces the amount of poaching that takes place). They've brought up the population from 150,000 to almost 4 million in the state of Louisiana! We also took Xpyne out to lunch and then let her have her very first snowball. XD

Saturday, we went to Global Wildlife, where you can ride in a wagon and feed and pet animals like deer and giraffes. It's another conservation effort, and it's the largest in the US. :) Later that night, I took Xpyne to have boiled crawfish for the first time. XD I'm sure she'll post pix, and when she does I'll snag them. XD She said they were delicious, just disgusting to peel. We also walked around downtown Covington and had drinks at Outback with Jimmie and some of his co-worker buddies.

Sunday, I had to work on Easter. :( When I got home, we hung out and waited for Jimmie. Once he got here, Xpyne, Jimmie, my bff Amy and I all went out to IHOP for Easter dinner. Because we're classy like that. XD
On Monday, we hung out and I went for a job interview, which went well! I'm still waiting to hear back for the official YOU"RE HIRED, but hey, it's a start! After that, we went to the Honey Island Swamp and had an epic adventure! I didn't have batteries in my camera, so the pix you see belong to Xpyne. Then, we went to Outback for dinner and hung out while Xpyne drew me epic Kirk/Bones pix! :D :D :D
( The Swamp )
Tuesday was our trip to New Orleans which almost didn't happen. We had a wicked bad storm early in the morning, and then there was rain predicted all day. But it ended up being sunny and beautiful all day. We had lunch at a place called Pierre Masparo's, and it was delicious! We walked around the Quarter and the French Market, and poked our head in random little shops here and there. The rest of the night was spent vegging at the house, almog with drive-thru daiquiris and epic board games.
( New Orleans )
Wednesday we lazed around, and then I took Xpyne to get beignets and coffee before I dropped her off at the airport. It was a sad ride home. :(
Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed! Maybe now you'll see how awesome Louisiana is and want to come visit. ;)))
