Day 2... and a surprise!

Okay, so it's technically Day 3 now, but nobody's going to notice!
Day 2: The meaning behind your LJ name.
Truthfully, there's no great story behind my name like there was with
caeseria's. When I was coming up with the new handle, I knew I wanted to get away from my angstier teenage years (distortedperfection) and into something more fandom-y. At the time, I was completely obsessed with Gundam Wing and Duo Maxwell. In the series, his nickname is Shinigami and I was like, "Hey, that's kind of cool!"
Naturally, I had to think of something to go with it. Thinking to myself, I decided that Eyes of Shinigami sounded pretty cool. And thus, my name was born. However, I've noticed that people tend to think of it as a Death Note reference, even though I'm not all that fond of DN. >_> Oh well.
Annnnnnnd the rest of the list:
Day 01- A recent picture of you and five interesting things about you.
Day 02- The meaning behind your LiveJournal name.
Day 03- A picture of you and your friends.
Day 04- A habit that you wish you didn’t have.
Day 05- A picture of somewhere you've been to.
Day 06- Favorite super hero and why.
Day 07- A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you.
Day 08- Short term goals for this month and why.
Day 09- Something you’re proud of in the past few days.
Day 10- Songs you listen to when you are Happy, Sad, Bored, Hyped, Mad.
Day 11- Another picture of you and your friends.
Day 12- How you found out about LJ and why you made one.
Day 13- A letter to someone who has hurt you recently.
Day 14- A picture of you and your family.
Day 15- Put your iPod on shuffle: First 10 songs that play.
Day 16- Another picture of yourself.
Day 17- Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why.
Day 18- Plans/dreams/goals you have.
Day 19- Nicknames you have; why do you have them.
Day 20- Someone you see yourself marrying/ being with in the future.
Day 21- A picture of something that makes you happy.
Day 22- What makes you different from everyone else.
Day 23- Something you crave for a lot.
Day 24- A letter to your parents.
Day 25- What I would find in your bag.
Day 26- What you think about your friends.
Day 27- Why are you doing this 30 day challenge.
Day 28- A picture of you last year and now, how have you changed since then?
Day 29- In this past month, what have you learned.
Day 30- Who are you?
And now for the surprise! I've been really lax on the writing front as of late, but I was struck by a recent post on
jim_and_bones (you know, since Kirk/Bones has eaten my brain). Every day, the mods put up pictures of Chris Pine and Karl Urban to use as inspiration. Well, we all know that I am totes head over heels for Mr Pine and I found myself struck by one of the pix. His eyes seemed ridiculously blue and I was like, "OMFG ♥_♥" And thus... this commentfic was born. I was told that I should share it, and I was actually ridiculously proud of how it came out.
So, here you go. One of my first forays into Star Trek fic.
Bones liked to think that he knew Jim better than most people did. They spent the better part of their Academy days together (you know, when Jim wasn’t cutting an impressive swathe in the endless sea of cadets, or reliving his glory days as a juvenile delinquent in Iowa with his bar fights, or getting his face sewed back together by Bones himself), and had managed to remain together onboard the Enterprise. (Or the Ship of Fools, as he liked to call it in grumblings under his breath.)
He called Jim a lot of things, often with colorful variations and a use of creativity that was usually only matched by Spock, much to his chagrin. But one thing that Bones always, always thought about Jim was how damn intense he is.
Their captain had an overabundance of passion and force that just seemed to radiate from him, like a star threatening to implode at any moment. Whether he was staring down the captain of an enemy ship, laughing with his crew members over replicated pot roast and potatoes, or locked in a closet with his hands roaming over all sorts of amazing places on Bones’ body, he just burns. Jim threw himself wholly into anything he did.
Naturally, the epicenter of all that churning intensity were those damned blue eyes of his. More often than not, Bones found himself positively struck by them. The color was just so unnatural and when they sparkled with the very intensity that was Jim Kirk… well. Bones couldn’t be held responsible for his actions. It’s not his damn fault that he goes weak in the knees, or his heart drops somewhere in the vicinity of his stomach, even when all the blood in his body is migrating south.
Especially when that blue, blue gaze is trained on him, filled with dirty promises and flavored with just the hint of knowing smirk on full lips. That’s the best kind, right there, just before Bones finds himself flat on his back with every burning inch of Jim pressed against him, kissing him like it’s the only thing that’ll keep him breathing. Every single ounce of that intensity, that passion pounding through him and in him and all around him until he’s so wound up he’s going to burst just by being too close to Jim too long. Bones only wishes he had that kind of vitality, which doesn’t stop him from greedily enjoying the human supernova that is his Jim.
Not that anybody else needs to know about that. Bones might have an intense word or two of his own to say if they even thought about it.
